Gearboxes

Suitable methods for inspection of entire gearboxes are:
  • Vibration
  • Transmission error
  • Combination of both using orderanalysis
Measurement of the transmission error conforms to Singleflank testing, measurement of vibration conforms to vibration testing on gears. The combination of both uses incremental encoders on input and output together with accelerometers mounted on the surface. The gearbox is then operated under load and the vibration is recorded synchronously with the angles.  The orderanalysis shows detailed information about critical states of operation and sources of vibration.
